October 2008

I love fall. This year the colors in the Northwest are amazing. I've never seen red like this! Now, if the rain can just stay away long enough to allow the leaves to stay on for a while, we'll be good. Fall means a trip to the pumpkin patch and Halloween and Molly's birthday!

The girls and I decided to head to a different pumpkin patch this year and it was a lot of fun. Molly loved the hay barn and all of it's activities. Maggie was in search of the perfect pumpkin and even though we have a rule that you can only get a pumpkin you can carry, I ended up carrying hers! There were these great hay animals there too which Molly initially ran from and then tried to crawl up. The corn maze was the best though. It was modeled after one of our favorite movies - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - and brought Narnia to life. We capped off our trip with a carmel apple from the sweet shop and it was a perfect afternoon.

On Halloween, the girls dressed as a Broncos cheerleader and Sharpay from High School Musical. Maggie also dressed up as Nancy Drew for her school's "Dress like your favorite book character" day on the 31st. Maggie did some trick or treating while Molly and I spent the evening with our good friends. Gary didn't get to do much celebrating as he was finishing off a discouraging soccer season on the 31st.
