They Take After They're Father

My kids are weird.  See title.

When Maggie was about 8 months old she started sticking her finger in her belly button and swirling it around.  At first I wondered if it was itchy or something.  Then I worried that she was going to irritate it by doing that.  So I mentioned it at our well-child visit.  Her doctor said it was her "comfort"... some kids suck their thumbs... others twirl their hair... mine digs in her belly button.  Oh...kay.  We had to cut slits in her footy pajamas because she couldn't get to her belly button.  We call it her dubba.  I can't remember why.  She soon advanced to swirling each finger around.  One day, I asked her why she did it and she said "it's comfortable in there." Hmmm. The funny thing is she still does it today.  When she's tired, without really even thinking about it, she starts digging.

18 months old.
So I guess I shouldn't be surprised that her little sister has developed an equally odd comfort.  She plays with her toes.  Naked piggies apparently work best.  She runs her finger and thumb between each toe and back again.  It drives me nuts.  And her dad? Well, he hates feet so I'm sure you can imagine how he's responding.  I also asked her why she does this and she said "I like it."  Why? She shrugged and said "I just DO!"

Oh...kay.  Weird, I tell you.
