A collection of shoes. None of which belongs to me. All of which have closets they call home.
This is not a rare occurance to find this collection strewn around my living room. Knowing this, I cleaned out my hope chest and moved it into the living room so that people could just throw thier shoes into it if they couldn't find their way to the closet. Guess how many pairs of shoes were in that chest...
People often display thier collections in thier living room for visitors to enjoy. Some people have rare finds or antiques or family heirlooms. We have shoes.
